Stop reminding me

May 21st, 2008 — 7:23am

Got sent home sick from school after only first period today – my ear infection is still working its evil charm on me and hockey at 6.45am this morning in the wind and cold definitely didn’t help.

In other matters, it’s my birthday on Friday and I’m really not looking forward to it. I also wrote my car off a couple of weeks ago (a very long story involving anti-biotics, not having driven for a month – forgetting my brake leverage – a hockey game very far away and me who shouldn’t have played in the first place) aaand went to the Pakuranga College ball last Saturday (for photos, ref to here). So, I have gotten over my infatuation/being smitten with a guy I met, but it’s really annoying because people keep reminding me how great he is – as if I needed to be reminded; or told at all, for that matter.

Run down

May 6th, 2008 — 12:36pm

The rest of my (yet-to-be-documented) holiday was fantastic, albeit being bed/couch-ridden for the past few days due to a nasty ear infection (in both ears!).

Tomorrow (Wednesday) will be my first day back at school since I’ve been completely unable to sleep let alone function properly thanks to a continuous headache and general fatigue. Mum and I agreed that I’ll stay off all hockey until next week which means I’ll be missing two trainings and games! That aside, I’m hoping to develop the photos I took in Taipei and I’ll definitely post them when I have them scanned. I didn’t take that many interesting digital ones though – they were mostly family pictures and whatnot.

One overdue complaint I have is: Why is airplane Eva airline food so bad?! Air New Zealand does a perfectly good job of keeping me (more than) satisfied, in fact, I was astonished when I discovered that the Air NZ food was so good I literally wanted seconds. But Eva air? It was shocking. After trying a small fraction of one meal (yes, I do feel bad for having wasted food, but I think I’d prefer a little guilt rather than puking) on my flight to Taipei, I ended up rejecting all remaining meals on said flight and my return one too. The air hostesses either looked at me in shock or distaste, I wasn’t sure which. Maybe both. On the way back I occupied myself with two guavas, one in replacement of each offered meal. (I love guavas).

Furthermore, I’m appalled at the suggestion that I “should’ve told them beforehand” that I didn’t want to be waken to be offered a packet of vile looking biscuits. I’ll admit, I didn’t actually eat the biscuits, but boy was I pissed off after 4 or 5 hours of vain attempts to fall asleep, within the first 20 minutes of me finally dozing off I was woken up to a waving packet of biscuits. I hate being woken up for virtually nothing.

Maybe I’m just super pissed off at airplanes and what they entail lately because on my flight out I had a cold, which led to nosebleeds (I always get them when it’s dry and/or I’m blowing my nose… too hard) and lack of sleep; and on the way back I had ear infections which meant my nose was blocked so my ear pressure refused to stabilise. Eck.
